[As a public service during the COVID pandemic, Hawkes Homestead created a series that came to be known as Anti-Anxiety Animal Posts. We feel that these stressful times once again call for some soothing distraction by our animal buddies. We can't guarantee new content every night like we did back then, but we'll do our best to keep some fresh happiness on your feed. ❤️]Today's installment is special. Winston, our elderly tripod great Pyrenees, is afraid of almost nothing. He fearlessly chases and annoys farm equipment, coyotes, moose, UPS drivers, and much more. But the one thing the old man can't abide is a thunderstorm. ⛈️Here, during today's storm, he had been trembling and panic-panting on Moira for quite a while when her maternal instincts suddenly kicked in. Moira, who is the cattiest cat to ever cat, who despises just about everyone, especially dogs, and who would rather be alone than stuck dealing with any other living being."Is okay, giant ugly son. I do some calming biscuits."#hawkeshomesteadnd#antianxietyanimalpost#moira #winston ... See MoreSee Less

With all the rain out here again, we had to break out our fancy waterproof, solar-powered, eco-friendly lawnmowers. Actually, they broke themselves out. (Actually actually, they are also gas-powered. 💨🤭)#hawkeshomesteadnd#animalrescue ... See MoreSee Less

Otie's right. We're sorry. 🙁 We got so busy working on admin backlogs and surprise ducklings and fixing fences and shearing sheep and a series of deaths and emergency vetting and all sorts of other chaos, we just haven't been remembering to post for you!! Those of you who donated and signed up as Patreon supporters have made such an incredible difference!! We were hit with a couple of huge, unexpected vet bills (over $5k in two weeks) that we'll be chipping away at for a while, but we can at least keep operating while we do. We truly can't thank you enough for your continued support of all our creatures, great and small. ❤️❤️❤️In other exciting news, the 501c3 paperwork has been re-started from scratch and is getting submitted to the state on Monday! We are open for visitors by appointment and can always always use volunteers, from social media wizards to barn cleaners to donkey-walkers and cat-petters.Watch for an upcoming swag sale soon, and more fresh pics and videos to come! ...
